Theology

I. What Rev Justin Griffin believes:

1. I believe in the one true, holy and living God, Eternal Spirit, who is Creator, Sovereign and Preserver of all things visible and invisible. He is infinite in power, wisdom, goodness and love (1John 4:8).

I believe the one God reveals Himself as the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, distinct individuals but inseparable, eternally one in essence and power. I believe He makes Himself clearly and fully known to us in and through His Holy inspired Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

2. I believe in Jesus Christ, truly God and truly human, in whom the divine and human natures are perfectly and inseparably united (John 1:1-7). The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Word made flesh, the only begotten Son of the Father, born of the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit.

I believe that Jesus was buried, and after 3 days/nights rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven to be with the Father, from whence He shall return. He is our eternal Savior and Mediator, who intercedes for us, and by Him, all men will be judged.

3. I believe that all men have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and stand under the righteous judgment of Jesus Christ, both now and in the last day. Furthermore, I believe in the resurrection of the dead, the righteous to have life eternal, and the wicked to suffer endless condemnation.

4. I believe in the Holy Spirit who proceeds from and is one in being with the Father and the Son. I believe that He convinces the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. He leads men through faithful response to the gospel into the fellowship of the Church. He comforts, sustains, and empowers the faithful and guides them into all truth.

5. I believe that the whole Bible in its original autograph is Holy inspired, without error and true in all its parts (2 Timothy 3:16). Also, I believe that the Old and New Testaments are the only infallible and inspired Word of God.  Furthermore, I believe the Old Testament is not contrary to the New Testament, for both Testaments are needed to understand both Testaments.  Furthermore, I believe that the Word of the LORD can only be received through the Holy Spirit as the true rule and guide for faith and practice.

6. I believe man is fallen from righteousness and, apart from the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, is destitute of holiness and inclined to evil (Ephesians 2:1-10). Yea, I believe except a man be born again by God, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God (John 3:16).

In addition, I believe that all mankind are never accounted righteous before God through their works or deeds but that penitent sinners are justified or accounted righteous before God only by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God whose death paid the price for all who believe in Him and thus receive the promise of the resurrection.

Furthermore, I believe good works are the necessary fruits of faith and follow regeneration, but they do not have the virtue to remove our sins or to avert divine judgment. I believe that good works, pleasing and acceptable to God in Christ, spring from a true and living faith, for through and by them faith is made evident (Matthew 7:17).

7. I believe that the Christian Church is the community of all true believers under the Lordship of Christ.  I believe that the church is the redemptive fellowship in which the Word of God is preached by those divinely called, and the sacraments are duly administered according to Christ’s own appointment.

8. I believe that the sacraments, ordained by Christ, are symbols and pledges of the Christian’s profession of faith and of God’s love toward us. They are means of grace by which God works invisibly in us, quickening, strengthening and confirming our faith in Him.  I believe in the two sacraments ordained by Christ our Lord, namely Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

9. I believe that the LORD God Almighty has appointed a day wherein He will judge the world in righteousness by Jesus Christ, to whom all power and judgment is given by the Father. In that day, not only the apostate angels shall be judged but, likewise, all persons who have lived upon earth shall appear before the tribunal of Christ to give an account of their thoughts, words, and deeds, and to receive judgment according to what they have done.

I believe that the righteous in Christ receive everlasting life and receive that fullness of joy and refreshing which shall come from the presence of the Lord. However, the wicked who know not God are not known of Christ (Matthew 7:19-23) and thus obey not the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  They shall be cast into eternal torment and shall be punished with everlasting wrath from the Lord and from the glory of His power (Luke 13:5; Matthew 25:31-46; Revelation 20:15).
